Like a bunch of Scandinavian, you’ve been living in Barcelona for a long time. How many Swedish skateboarders are you there? Have you ever lived in a “Swedish house”?

There´s a lot of swedes here for sure. No I have’nt been in a swedish house since 2002 when I first got here. If you want to adapt to a new culture you can´t only move around with your own people, you need to be on your own for a bit to see were life takes you and to learn the language for real and all that.

Barcelona has become the “place to be” for a decade now, how has it change since you got there ?

It has changed alot! Before you could do anything you wanted on the streets and now you can get a ticket for walking with your board in the hand or riding a bike with ipod!

Comme un paquet de scandinaves, tu vis à Barcelone depuis un moment. Combien êtes vous là-bas ? T’as déjà vécu dans une “maison de suédois” ?

Beaucoup de suédois sont là, c’est clair. Je n’ai pas habité uniquement avec des suédois depuis 2002 lorsque je suis arrivé. Si tu veux t’adapter à une nouvelle culture tu ne peux pas te contenter de bouger avec tes proches, tu as besoin d’être seul un moment pour apprendre la langue et comment tout fonctionne.

Barcelone était devenue la ville où il fallait être il y a une une dizaine d’années déjà, comment ça a changé depuis ?

Ca a beaucoup changé ! Avant tu pouvais faire ce que tu voulais dans la rue et maintenant tu peux prendre une amende pour avoir marché dans la rue avec ta board sous le bras ou être à vélo avec un Ipod !

How much time do you spend in Sweden within a year?

I go 2 to 4 times every year over there

Who do you skate with daily?

Whoever is around but normally Raul (Navarro) or Dani (Lebron) with posses or the sweet guys when we are on the same coordinates

Combien de temps passses tu en Suede par an ?

J’y vais 2 ou 4 fois par ans.

Avec qui skate tu habituellement ?

Avec tout les gars du coin, normalement avec Raul(Navarro) ou Dani (Lebron) et les potes, ou les gars de Sweet quand on se retrouve au même endroit.

Did you get an opportunity to make a career in the USA? It is something you would enjoy (or not)?

When I was a kid I always wanted to go there cuz thats where the roots are growing and always good weather and so but now I’m happy in sunny spain. I´ve never thought of skating as a carrer or job or to be someone or to make dough with it, it has been my life for as long as I can remember and things kind of just happened by itself by being in videos and stuff. Its very different when your hobby becomes a job and you have to be innovative all the time, it easily takes away the sparkle, not only in skateboarding but in everything, I’m very fortunate to be able to continue doing what I like the most and to still have the sparkle going.

As-tu déjà eu l’opportunité de faire carrière aux Etats-Unis ? Est-ce quelque chose que tu apprécierais (ou pas) ?

Quand j’étais gamin, j’ai toujours voulu y aller parce que tout venait de là-bas et qu’il y fait toujours beau mais maintenant je suis très heureux d’être sous le soleil de Barcelone. J’ai jamais imaginé le skate comme un travail, une carrière ou pour me faire une réputation, c’est toute ma vie aussi longtemps que je m’en souvienne et les choses sont arrivées par elles même en faisant des vidéos et tous ces trucs. C’est vraiment différent quand ça devient un travail et que tu dois innover continuellement, ça peut vite t’enlever la motivation, pas seulement dans le skate mais dans tout. J’ai de la chance de pouvoir continuer à faire ce que j’aime le plus et de toujours avoir “l’étincelle”.

Talking about USA, you’ve been overthere this year with Sweet, can you tell what happened there?

We´ve been over to visit our dear friends from sk8mafia in San Diego to film together for the video we´re doing together

What’s the link between Sweet skateboard and Sk8mafia? Is there a video Sweet/Sk8mafia coming next year?

Well i guess were like brothas from different mothas, homies 4life. me and Javier (Sarmiento) hang out a lot and Wes (Kremer) and Josef (Scott Jatta) always go on trips together, I guess that’s the first conection. Video comes out spring 13

Can you tell us what the hell we can see in the intro of your part in “Sweets” ?

Haha yeah that’s inside my knee. I had a very bad knee filming for that part and had to have surgery and I got the footy from it so we used it.

A propos de Etats-Unis, tu y es allé cette année avec Sweet, que s’est il passé ?

On y est allé pour voir nos potes de Sk8mafia à San Diego et filmer avec eux pour faire notre video.

Qu’est ce qui lie Sweet et Sk8mafia ? Y a une video qui sort l’année prochaine ?

Bien, je pense qu’on est comme des “brothas from diférent mothas”, amis pour la vie. Javier (Sarmiento) et moi traînons beaucoup avec Wes (Kremer) et Joseph (Scott Jatta) part tout le temps en trip avec, je pense que la connexion vient de là. La vidéo sort au printemps 2013.

Une fois pour toute, dis nous ce qu’on voit dans l’intro de ta part dans le vidéo Sweet “Sweets” ?

Haha, oui c’est l’intérieur de mon genoux. J’avais un genoux en mauvais état quand je filmais cette part et j’ai dû être opéré, j’ai récupéré les images et on les a utilisées.

What’s next for you? Any part coming?

Yea now were filming for the Sk8mafia Sweet video that i will share part with Don Javier Sarmiento so I need to put my batteries in for this one

Have you planned to play the guitar live someday with Dany Lebron ?

Yes we play all the time. viva el flamenco y el arte!!

Quelle est la suite pour toi ? Une video arrive ?

Oui on est en train de filmer pour la video Sk8mafia/Sweet où je partage une part avec “Don Javier Sarmiento”, donc je dois être à bloc pour celle là.

T’as prévu de jouer de la guitare en live avec Dany Lebron ?

Oui on joue tout le temps, viva flamenco y el arte !!

Let’s get a tip from you. What do you recommend to people who doesn’t anything about Flamenco ?

Music is like skating, its creative and expressive. i recommend to everybody to play any musical instrument

Donnes nous un conseil. Qu’est ce que tu recommande à ceux qui ne connaissent rien au flamnenco ?

La musique c’est comme le skate, c’est un exercice créatif et expressif, je recommande à tout le monde de jouer un instrument de musique.

It seems that you manage to live through the positive side of skateboarding without much pressure. Can you currently “earn” money enough to not worry about it every week ?

The pressure comes normally from myself and I’m always worried about that shit, but lately I’ve been able to put the bread on the table thanks to my sponsors Sweet Skateboards, junkyard.com and Nike SB so that’s amazing, to finally get something back from the thing you dedicated your life to. I started skating in 88-89 and got my first check in 2005 or so. I see skating as some kind of meditation with your friends, or a way to express and let everything out, that you do to disconect from everything normal like school or work, not to compete or to be the “best”. Now I guess its different though, the only thing kids will ask you is how to get sponsored.

Il semble que tu reussis à vivre les côtés positifs du skate sans avoir trop de pression. Arrives tu à gagner assez d’argent pour ne pas stresser chaque semaine ?

La pression viens de moi et je suis toujours préoccupé par toutes ces conneries, mais depuis un petit moment j’arrive à me débrouiller grâce à mes sponsors Sweet Skateboards, junkyard.com et Nike SB et c’est vraiment cool de finalement avoir quelque chose en retour pour ce à quoi j’ai consacré toute ma vie. J’ai commencé en 88 ou 89 et eu un premier chèque vers 2005 . Je vois le skate comme une sorte de méditation avec mes amis, ou un moyen d’expression qui t’éloigne de tout le reste, ça te déconnecte de la normalité comme l’école ou le travail, pas pour la compétition ou être le meilleur. Par contre maintenant, j’ai la ‘impression que c’est différent, la seule chose que les gamins vont te demander est comment tu as trouvé des sponsors.
